WHEN WE TURN AWAY FROM GOD

Thursday, 13th February – Thursday of week 5 of the year

Reflection: 1 Kings 11: 4-13

WHEN WE TURN AWAY FROM GOD

God is God and cannot tolerate any form of disobedience to His laws and warnings because He sees it as rebellion against Him.

When we obey God, we win God’s favour but when we disobey God we earn His curse. Solomon disobeyed God by marrying foreign wives and worshipping foreign gods. The Lord warned him several times but he refused to obey, this was disgusting unto God because God is a jealous God. His disobedience earned Solomon a curse from God that a large portion of the kingdom will be taken away from his lineage.

Beloved, God is love and He wants us to remain with Him always. He gives us several warnings to come back to him when we turn away from Him. But if we continue in disobedience to His ways, we earn ourselves a curse from God and if God curses a man, who can bless him? Nobody! It is proper that as children of God, we walk in obedience to God’s will so that we can earn His blessings.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, help me to always know your will and obey them so that I can be blessed by You.

KNOW YOUR FAITH: YOUCAT 293 – Why did God give us “passions” or emotions?

We have passions so that through strong emotions and distinct feelings we might be attracted to what is right and good and repelled from what is evil and bad.

HIDE A TREASURE: “Happy are those who obey his commands, who always do what is right.” Psalm 106:3 GNB

Readings for today: 1 Kings 11: 4-13; Psalm 106: 3-4, 35-37,40; Mark 7 : 24-30
