Wednesday 9th April – Wednesday of The 5th Week Of Lent
Reflection: John 8:31-42
PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY
“Obedience” is a common word which even a child may attempt to define. Obedience is not just what we say in words. It is something that is better acted than spoken. Obedience is the key to discovering who God really is. Remember Jesus says today “If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you shall know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8: 31, 32). Now what is “the truth”? The truth is Jesus himself, for He said that He is the way, the truth and the life. Hence, it takes obeying God’s Word to encounter Jesus.
Beloved, the Bible is not just an ordinary book that you read to get information, or to “fulfill all righteousness.” No, it reveals the life of God; it is the Christian’s code of conduct and our map to navigate through life victoriously. As you obey the word of God that comes to you each day, you are gradually undergoing an inward transformation that you may not even notice. There is an addition to your spiritual and material capacity because you will bear much fruit, and you will have good success in all you do. (Joshua.1:8) Remember that you can only be a child of God (properly so called) if you live by His word on daily basis. His grace is sufficient for you!
Prayer: Lord, please pardon me for the many times I have failed to live out your word. Give me the grace this day to be a practical Christian. Amen.
KNOW YOUR FAITH: YOUCAT 309 – What is charity?
Charity is the power by which we, who have been loved first by God can give ourselves to God so as to be united with him and can accept our neighbor for God’s sake as unconditionally and sincerely as we accept ourselves. [CCC. 1822-1829, 1844]
