Tuesday 1st July – Tuesday of week 13 of the year
Reflection: Amos 3: 1-8, 4: 11-12
THE LORD’S CONFIDANTS
We live in an information age, and the level of information we have access to considerably affect the quality of our lives. The advancement in InfoTech and Telecom readily avails us of a whole lot of information. However, despite the increased fluidity and accessibility of information across the globe, some information remained tagged as classified (i.e. Top Secrets); especially when it concerns governance, trade and security of nations and corporations. Access to such sensitive information remains the exclusive reserve of a few, based on position, trust, and allegiance.
Dear friend, the above illustrates some spiritual facts: that God the creator of heaven and earth holds some information classified (Deuteronomy 29: 29; Psalm 25:14); that how much of it we know significantly impact our lives (Genesis 41; 2 Kings 6: 8-23); that at His prerogative, God confides and reveals some secrets to us children on men; that you and I can position ourselves to be beneficiaries of this expression of God’s graciousness and love.
“The sovereign Lord never does anything without revealing his plan to his servants, the prophets.” (Amos 3:7). An attestation of this is the Lord’s revelation to Abraham of His plans to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah (Genesis 18: 16-33). Beloved in Christ, by the virtue of our baptism, we have been made Priest, Prophet and King (CCC 783, 1241) of the sovereign God. The extent to which we embrace this truth and walk in friendliness, love and obedience to God will determine how much He can commit to our trust.
Do you have issues bothering your mind? Matters that appear only God can provide answers to. Go to God in prayer! It is neither the desire of God nor is it in our best interest to be looking for a God that is not missing from one mountain to the other, denomination to the other or spiritual house to another. God is not a respecter of person (Act 10: 34-35), He confides, directs and blesses all who sincerely seek Him and hope in His mercy.
Prayer: Dear Father, please draw me closer to you that my heart may be opened to all that you have in stock for me.
KNOW YOUR FAITH: CCC 54 & 55 –God, who creates and conserves all things by his Word, provides men with constant evidence of himself in created realities. This revelation is not broken off by our first parents’ sin. “After the fall [God] buoyed them up with the hope of salvation, by promising redemption; and he has never ceased to show his solicitude for the human race. For he wishes to give eternal life to all those who seek salvation by patience in well-doing.
HIDE A TREASURE: “Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessings from the Lord, and vindication from the God of his salvation” Psalm 24: 3-5RSV- CE
