OUR HERITAGE IN CHRIST

Thursday 28th August – Thursday of week 21 of the year

Reflection: 1 Corinthians 1:1-9

OUR HERITAGE IN CHRIST

In today’s reading, God speaks to us about who we are in Christ Jesus. Our impact as Christians has been less felt by the society because we seem to be so preoccupied with finding solution to our problems that we appear to have lost sight of our identity and privileges in Christ. A young prince who has no idea of who he really is can be bossed around by his father’s slave (Galatians 4:1). As Christians, when we fail to harness the power of God that lies within us, we easily become jittery with every little storm life throws at us. How absurd this can be.

Dear friend, a river that forgets its source would dry up. As a child of God who is established in Christ, we are rich in all things; in speech, in knowledge, in power and in grace (1 Corinthians 1:6-7). These and many more are our heritage in Christ. Let us therefore refuse to be tricked by the devil by daily confessing our identity in Christ and so become renewed and strengthened for life’s battle. Let us trust God (1Corinthians 1:9), knowing that faithful is he who has called us. Christ who lives in you wants to move through you. Be confident and face all conditions of life with the power of God at work in you. Give thanks to God for this privilege.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, because you live in me, grant me victory and make me grow in grace and knowledge of you. Amen.

KNOW YOUR FAITH: YOUCAT 477What does it mean to learn from Jesus how to pray?

Learning from Jesus how to pray means entering into his boundless trust, joining in his prayer, and being led by him, step by step, to the Father.

HIDE A TREASURE: “No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD” Isaiah 54: 17CCB
