Reflection: Luke 15: 1-10

GOD LOVES YOU PERSONALLY

Do you know that despite God’s immense greatness, He delights in paying attention to details? Take a moment to ponder this question. “Does God know your name?” You might simply conclude that God knows everything and He knows everybody’s name. Much more important however, is the fact that God who is so great and mighty is interested in you personally out of the billions of people in the world. Isn’t that wonderful? Sure it is! Even angels are astonished at this realization. God has a jealous love for you personally. He loves you with an unquestionable affection. (Psalm 117:2).

Truly, God is interested in each soul in the midst of the multitude. David had this understanding and that gave him a good sense of security, leading to His much loved Psalm – the Lord is my shepherd (Psalm 23). The greatest thing that can happen to a man is to understand the measure of love that God has for him and to accept that love. This was why St. Paul prayed a passionate prayer for the church in Ephesus that they may understand the love of God that surpasses all knowledge, and be deeply rooted in that same love. (Ephesians 3:17-19). Understanding the love of God gives one a whole new outlook on life as you no longer see yourself passing through life alone, for God has promised that He will be with you till the end of time – Emmanuel (God with us). (cf Matthew 28:20)

Beloved, like in the parable of the lost sheep and coin, our loving Father is always seeking you out even when you go astray. He loves you so much that when He finds you, there is great rejoicing in heaven. God does not want to lose you to the enemy. He is jealously guarding your soul and your destiny. Do not take His love for granted. Find time today to appreciate God for His great love for you and boldly face any circumstance that comes your way today, with the assurance that God is personally in love with you.

PRAYER: Precious Holy Spirit, please help to understand each day the extent to which God loves me, and grant me the grace to be transformed by this same love. Amen.
