Reflection: Philippians 4: 10-19
SATISFACTION IN CHRIST
Every human being seeks satisfaction in life. Our quest for worldly wealth should never over-shadow our quest for heavenly (eternal) riches. The search for worldly wealth would never give us true satisfaction even when we have more than enough as God has placed in us an inner yearning which He alone can satisfy.
As we sail on the sea of life, it would not always be calm. There will be time for plenty and time for little. The true test of our Christian faith is our ability to trust God and honour him whether in plenty or in little. Times of lack may simply be a test of our faith, a test that will leave us stronger if only we seek satisfaction in our heavenly Father (Proverbs 17:3). St Paul understood this and lived a life of contentment (Philippians 4:11-13).
Dear friends, how often are we content with what we have? How often do we give to others unconditionally irrespective of the quantity? Christ tells us today that by making friends with our worldly goods through sincere acts of generosity, even when we have little, we would be welcomed to our eternal home (Luke 16:9). Let us learn to use all we have to glorify God. Let us seek things that are valuable in God’s sight.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, the strength to face all my situations and to find satisfaction in them, I ask of you. Help me to respond to the needs of others irrespective of my circumstances. Amen.

Love for the poor must be in every age the distinguishing mark of Christians…Christians must look after the needy of this earth with great considerations, love, and perseverance. After all, on no other point will they be evaluated by Christ so decisively as on their way of treating the poor: (Mt 25:40).
