BE READY FOR CHANGE

BE READY FOR CHANGE

Matthew 9:14-17

It is often said that ‘change’ is the only constant thing in life. Indeed it is. At some point in our lives, we were just a suckling in our mother’s arms, free from the worries of this world but now we have grown to become adolescents or adults with decisions of our own to make. This life given to us  presents us with different forms of change. Jesus says today: ‘but the day will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast.’ (Mt.9:15b).

The disciples of Jesus had all the while enjoyed the great benefits and privileges that came from having Jesus around. But now He tells them that they will soon stop enjoying those benefits, because the time will come when they have to go for it themselves, a time when they would have to choose to either stand for God or stand against him.

Dear friend, you may ask yourself today, what change are my expecting to happen soon in my life? Are my prepared for this change? Will I always be for God no matter what happens? These are pertinent questions every Christian should at all times ask himself or herself. Let us then always prepare ourselves for the days ahead; this we can not do with our own human strength we need to always follow Jesus every step of the way just like the apostles did, that we may be able to stand for Christ at all time. In other words, to be able to manage the inevitable changes that would come our way, we must constantly upgrade ourselves in all ramifications, be it spiritually, academically, financially or otherwise. We need a fresh wineskin (a pure heart) for the new wine (the holy spirit). So I ask you today: ‘Are you ready for change?’

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, enlarge my capacity to contain whatever change may come my way. Help me to stand for you no matter what happens. Amen.
