BELOVED IN CHRIST,
The Catholic Devotional for Youth (CDY) is a monthly devotional based on the daily readings of the Church. The daily reflections are designed to address the situations young people face in their day-to-day living.
As the universal Church draws the curtain over the celebration of the “Year of faith”, it is with great joy and hope that we present to you this devotional. It is a devotional, put together for young Catholics which will help them to study the Bible along with the Church and which challenges youth to live out their faith as Catholic Christians. In addition, segments are taken from “YOUCAT” which is the Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church and from the mother edition, the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC). This is to help youth understand the priceless faith that they have as Catholics and increase their appetite to know more about the Church.
This also seeks to bring alive the desire of the Pope Emeritus, Benedict XVI as he speaks to us in the foreward of YOUCAT:
”Dear young friends…I invite you: Study this Catechism! That is my heartfelt desire. This Catechism was not written to please you. It will not make life easy for you, because it demands of you a new life. It places before you the Gospel message as the “pearl of great value” (Mt 13:46) for which you must give everything. So I beg you: Study this Catechism with passion and perseverance. Make a sacrifice of your time for it! Study it in the quiet of your room; read it with a friend; form study groups and networks; share with each other on the internet. By all means continue to talk with each other about your faith.”
While the devotional is distributed free of charge to young Catholics, the daily reflections in it are available for a much larger audience on this blog. Follow the blog in order to receive the daily reflections directly in your mail. And remember to share this with your friends so that we can together draw strength from the Word of God.

Unfortunately, due to some challenges we’re experiencing, the devotionals have been out of print for a while and are only available currently on the blog page.

What happened? Your devotionals are wonderful but nothing since March. Prayfully hoping this ministry is restored.
Hi Bernadette. Thanks for your compliment and prayers. We certainly need a great deal of that. We’ve had quite some difficulty getting the reflections ready and things are basically at a halt right now. Hopefully, before too long we would get back on our feet and have reflections posted daily again.

Just happened upon some of the archived reflections – they are WONDERFUL! I love the reflections and the inclusion of the YOUCAT! I am planning on using them in my classroom – I think my middle school students will really enjoy them. Prayers for the ability/means to continue this wonderful ministry in any form!
