In order to gain maximally from this reflections,
Pick a convenient time during the day, preferably early in the morning when you desire to spend time alone with God if you do not already have a quiet time.
Begin with a prayer, asking the Holy Spirit to open your heart to understand His word.
Read the Bible text provided in the “Reflection”
Spend a few minutes pondering on the text, try to understand the message in the text and how it applies to your life.
Slowly read through the reflection provided, taking time to look up the Bible references provided. Take the short prayer ending the reflection.
Look up what the catechism has to teach you and if possible, aim to get a copy of YOUCAT so you can understand fully your Catholic faith.
If possible, try to reflect on the other readings of the day provided
The “HIDE A TREASURE” segment is very important. It challenges you to take a verse of scripture into memory each day. Please do not skip this segment. Memorize the scripture provided and try to repeat it to yourself several times during the day. You will be very surprised at how you will encounter situations in your day to day life that are addressed by these ”TREASURES” you have hidden in your heart.
The Scripture verses are taken from the following versions of the Bible:
The Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (RSV-CE)
The Good News Bible (GNB)
The Christian Community Bible (CCB)
“This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success”
Joshua 1:8
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom…” Colossians 3:16
Finally, ask God for the grace to live out the truths of His word in your everyday life.
